Flowers and Feathers

Project Runway ~ Kenley

I'm sure any of you following the best reality show in the world is familiar with Kenley Collins, one of the extraordinary designers competing in this season's installment of Project Runway. I'm a big fan of hers and I like most of the pieces she's designed so far (though I was not fond of tonight's Aquarius avant-garde dress). I adore her personal sense of style, her vintage-inspired outfits, and most of all, her hair accessories, from her headbands to her hair combs and clips adorned with flowers and feathers!

Bando Headband

I've noticed that flower and feather hair accessories are in vogue. I've seen them featured in many places, from JCrew to Forever 21. As a matter of fact, I bought a purple feather hair clip at F21 yesterday, though, it looks more like a purple tarantula on my head. Don't worry, I will take a photo later this week for laughs.

Bando Hair Comb

Hmmmm... how can a regular person like me pull off this look? I suspect it will be very tricky.

Bando Hair Comb

Anyway, I've been searching for pretty hair accessories on the Internet and was happy to stumble upon Bando. All the accessories on Bando are breathtakingly beautiful, but for the sake of bandwidth, I'm posting a few of my favorites. My big gripe, however, is the cost. Most pieces range between $100-$200!

Bando Hair Comb

So thank god for Etsy. I found a few Etsy boutiques which sell this sort of thing at a fraction of the Bando prices. I used a bit of the PayPal money I earned from selling shoes to buy a beautiful headband with feathers. It could go either way, really. I may be able to pull it off or may even look foolish -- like some sort of bird woman-- who knows. Regardless, I'm pretty excited.

Patent Leather Red... Marcelle!

Behold. Dansko has finally returned Marcelle, in fire engine patent leather red, at that! I was browsing through Solestruck's new arrivals and was stunned at the sight of these gorgeous shoes. How timely, the old red Marcelles that I scored from eBay finally fell apart during one of our longer dog walks through the Presidio two weeks ago. Grin...

9/5/08 Update:
My order arrived from Solestruck.com yesterday. OMG OMG OMG. This is the cutest shoe ever. I was in class last night and I swear to you, I couldn't stop looking at my new shoes. Thank god I sat in the back. Read more about the patent Marcelles at Chez Shoes!

Jossiline by Betsey Johnson

I usually don't like moccasins. They remind me of Disneylands' Bear Country for some reason. I've been seeing a lot of them lately, though, and none caught my eye like Jossiline by Betsey Johnson. I first saw these during the Half Yearly Sale at Nordstroms a couple of weeks ago and sadly, they weren't on sale. Don't they look unusual? I'm strangely attracted to them, especially to the one in black, and I think it's all because of the hot pink sole, of all things.

Pookie by Miz Mooz

Pookie by Miz Mooz

Alright, ladies. If your heart skipped a beat at the sight of Babs by Miz Mooz, take a look at Pookie. Is your heart fluttering? Adorable, isn't it? Sigh... I wish I had known they were on SALE at NORDSTROM before I bought Boomerang!!! So sad since it lies a bit beyond my budget. Note to self: another of many great incentives to finish college already is to land a better paying job in Silicon Valley to afford the freedom to buy shoes as you wish.

Anyway, for those of you who can afford it right now, they're on SALE at NORDSTROM for $59.90 from $89.95. The Anniversary Sale ends Friday, August 4th.

Oh! They're also on SALE at Infinity Shoes. The advantage to buying them at Infinity Shoes is that, in addition to black, brown, and red, they also sell Pookie in a lovely shade of green.

Babs by Miz Mooz

I wish I could say that those feet are mine -- they're not. They belong to my Flickr friend, Ertipie and those are her cuuuuuuuute shoes which I've been insanely coveting for the last several weeks. It all started after reading this post from An Examined Life. Apparently, the shoes were sold at Infinity Shoes up until recently and consequently we're both heart broken.

The black mary janes worn by Ertipie are called "Babs" by Miz Mooz. I've scoured the Internet for a pair, to no avail. I even sent an email to Miz Mooz inquiring about Babs. I received this response:

Thanks for writing us! We love hearing from our customers. We are sorry that you are having a hard time locating our shoe “Babs”. It was a style from this past fall season and Infinity Shoes were the only ones to carry them. Currently, they are all sold out. But no worries! Be on the look out for similar styles coming out this fall.

Similar styles, eh? Very promising... In the mean time, I'm looking to Ebay. Though I haven't found Babs second hand, I saw this cute pair, also by Miz Mooz:

I was tempted to place a bid. But, though the description says that the shoes are in great condition, the retainer loop for the strap appears to be missing. So, forget about it. It's really too bad since they're so adrorable.

I look forward to the Fall 2008 lineup at Miz Mooz!! =)
