Noteworthy: Bonne Annee Postcards

Bonne Annee Postcards

I want to show you these Bonne Annee postcards. I bought them from Timeless Treasures about a year ago. I had every intention of devoting a blog post to these exquisite little gems, but alas, life got in the way and I forgot about them. That is, until our morning dog walk yesterday.

Chico, our alpha Pomeranian, gets easily bored with our walks around the neighborhood, so I occasionally drive to new places to lift his spirits. This strategy works most of the time until he gets bored... but, that's another story.

While walking through this fresh new neighborhood, I came upon a darling little house for sale. It resembled the little French cottage in one of my Bonne Annee postcards: the same charming roof, the same color, the same provincial style. Although tyrannical Chico insisted that we move on, instructing me with his faint growls, we lingered.

The windows were bare of curtains so I could peer in to see bay windows in the dining room, an inviting hearth in the living room, and newly finished hardwood floors throughout. In a small quaint side room, which I fell deeply in love with, I saw walls covered with a very old and faded floral wallpaper. It was a sight that made me slightly giddy with the hope of someday sitting in a room of my own just like that.

These postcards make me think of that old house and how it made my heart sing.

Polly the Pooch & Fanny

Vintage Pins

I found these vintage pins at a garage sale at Masonic in San Francisco over the weekend. The cute pooch is a vintage Japanese pin. I was extremely happy to buy both for just $10 a piece!

Wall Decor Update

I bought 4 things from a garage sale yesterday. Can you tell which ones?

OK, the vintage rose hat is certainly not wall decor, but it is from the same garage sale. And, since it's too small for me, I've turned it into room decor, or rather, a new lovely hat for the lamp. An improvement, no?

Amanda Atkins sent me a print from her shop -- the same print I used in my Colour Lover post from September 14. Your Secrets Felt Like Velvet graces over my craft table and I love it. Thank you, Amanda. :)

Wardrobe Remix: 7/1/09

It is another warm day on the Peninsula. At 72 degrees, it's the perfect weather for skirts and today, I decided to wear this tulip skirt, thrifted from Crossroads a few months ago. But, since the weather can be pretty unpredictable in the City, I should probably stuff some tights and a sweater in my bag in case the fog makes an appearance later today. Alrighty, off to work I go.

Wardrobe Remix

Oh, and one more thing. I just wanted to express how much fun I'm having getting ready in the mornings these days, experimenting with various looks. Thank you, Wardrobe Remix. :)

What I wore:

  • top - Studio M by Studio Max
  • tulip skirt - H&M, thrifted from Crossroads Trading
  • shoes - Vina by Born
  • pink bow - A Alicia Accessories
  • lipstick- Berry Sinner by Lipstick Queen

Thrifted Gazith

Thrifted Gazith!

Do these shoes look familiar? They should. I posted about shoes just like these last week in an entry entitled Miz Mooz. The last I checked on Ebay, the shoes were going for $15.50. Well, I found this pair at the Salvation Army for $3.00. Pretty cool, huh? It's a decent pair, too, and hardly used from the looks of it.

Okay, the shoes weren't quite the right size for me -- they were 2 sizes larger than what I normally wear -- a 41. But, I figured that heel liners would make them a perfect fit. So I picked up a pack of heel liners from Walgreens on my way home. It's perfect now and quite comfy, too.

Thrifted Gazith!

In case you're wondering about the label, Gazith is Avi Wiener, the creative designer of "Miz Mooz by Gazith".

The buckle is secure. A retainer loop is unnecessary, after all.
