Fandansko ~ Where Do You Dansko?

During the Summer, I blogged about Fandansko, a place on Dansko's website where they interact with Dansko fans by holding contests and surveys in exchange for the possibility of winning a pair. Well, one of the questions in one of their Summer 2008 contests asked, "Where do you Dansko?". In addition, the contest asked for an *action shot*.

It sounded easy and well, I couldn't resist. I entered the picture that I used for one of my June posts called Falling Leaves along with a short description of where I Dansko (everywhere, really).

To be honest with you, I totally forgot all about this contest... until yesterday afternoon when I received an email from Dansko notifying me as one of the winners. I was gleeful! After much deliberation and research, I chose Mae in Veg Tan Brown for my complementary pair. Thank you, Dansko -- I'm so excited!

The Secret worked once again!

Betseyville's Jossiline

If you've been following my Daily Mug photo blog, then it should come as no surprise that I bought Betseyville's Jossiline moccasins. I'm very pleased with them -- they're cute and comfortable, though since the soles are quite thin, I don't recommend them for any off-road hiking and such since you may very well damage your precious feet that way. They are great to wear around town!

I have one complaint, though. And unfortunately, it came only as an afterthought and I'm quite embarrassed to even bring it up because it should have been fairly obvious. The color of the soles sold this pair for me. Though not a hot pink aficionado, I found these shoes strangely attractive especially because of this. I guess it's also because it's so unexpected. I mean, one generally associates moccasins with the standard colors of fawn or brown -- but pink? Unusual. And I loved it.

So why am I complaining? Well, it never occurred to me that the soles would become yucky gray. Like, DUH! Okay, I was expecting a graying and a darkening of the soles, but I didn't expect the sides of the soles to look pretty gross.

So there. The shoes are great, but the worn soles gross me out. Strangely enough, I can't stop looking at the bottom of my soles to see how yucky they get.

Dansko's Professional Patent Clogs

One day over the Summer, as I was running errands around The Fillmore for my boss, I saw this stylish woman dressed all in black. She wore a black crew sweater with a black mid-length skirt, which looked great with her black footless tights. She wore her raven hair sleek and short and the only color she dare expose were her blood red lips. But what really caught my eye were her black patent Professional Dansko Clogs. From that moment, I began dreaming of black patent clogs, and the cordovan cabrio Professional Clogs in my closet now seemed so dull and boring and ever so passé.

Dansko Professional Clog Black Patent

Imagine my excitement when I received a box from Dansko last week. They sent me these black patent Professional Clogs as a thank you gift for using Midori and Marcelle as part of my blog mastheads. Thanks a million for this unexpected gift. Perhaps The Secret does work, after all! =)

Dansko Professional Clog Claret Patent

These are my first non-Sanita manufactured stapled clogs and I must say that these are my best Danskos ever. They're super comfortable and so perfect. My feet feel soooooooo good in them -- just comfy snug as a bug, so much so that I felt compelled to buy another pair in claret at Nordstrom yesterday.

Dansko Professional Clog Claret Patent

Let me tell you something about the patent line of stapled clogs: they're seasonal and are only available for sale in the Fall. But, as I've been told by a friend who works at Nordstrom, Dansko has skipped seasons before. For instance, they weren't available last year. So, get these while you can -- especially the ones in claret. I dare you to buy the clogs in claret online -- they're unavailable. As of tonight, Zappos has the patent clog available only in black, in only a few sizes, at that. The Professional Clog in claret is even more elusive. Nordstrom.com sells them only in black, as well. Go to a brick and mortar Nordstrom -- they sell them there!

Thanks, Dansko! I love love love them.

Patent Leather Red... Marcelle!

Behold. Dansko has finally returned Marcelle, in fire engine patent leather red, at that! I was browsing through Solestruck's new arrivals and was stunned at the sight of these gorgeous shoes. How timely, the old red Marcelles that I scored from eBay finally fell apart during one of our longer dog walks through the Presidio two weeks ago. Grin...

9/5/08 Update:
My order arrived from Solestruck.com yesterday. OMG OMG OMG. This is the cutest shoe ever. I was in class last night and I swear to you, I couldn't stop looking at my new shoes. Thank god I sat in the back. Read more about the patent Marcelles at Chez Shoes!

Jossiline by Betsey Johnson

I usually don't like moccasins. They remind me of Disneylands' Bear Country for some reason. I've been seeing a lot of them lately, though, and none caught my eye like Jossiline by Betsey Johnson. I first saw these during the Half Yearly Sale at Nordstroms a couple of weeks ago and sadly, they weren't on sale. Don't they look unusual? I'm strangely attracted to them, especially to the one in black, and I think it's all because of the hot pink sole, of all things.
