Arizona's Pomegranate Green Tea

Arizona Pomegranate Green Tea

I was at Ernie's Liquor's earlier today, in line to buy a couple of lottery tickets -- one Mega and one Super. It took a while since a man at the counter seemed to invest his entire life savings for scratchers and he wanted ten of each kind. Go figure.

Anyway, while in line, I couldn't help but notice Arizona's Pomegranate Green Tea -- I couldn't take my eyes off it. I even forgot about the irritating man who was obsessed with those scratchers. Chinese Apple... Pomegranate... Green Tea... the packaging was quite striking. I really liked the Chinese influence at the neck of the bottle. The pomegranate graphic was lovely, as well. Though I generally dislike green tea, I bought a bottle. After photographing it like a mad woman when I got home, I peeled the jade strip from the bottle's neck, applied glue to the back and pasted it inside my inspiration notebook, right across from those Reber Mozart Kugel wrappers.

Then I opened the bottle and took a sip... You know, it wasn't bad at all. Pretty tasty!

Reber Mozart Kugel

Reber Mozart Kugel

I was at Cafe Murano on Steiner Street in San Francisco, paying for a bowl of their ultimate oatmeal, when I spotted these morsels of finely packaged candy on the counter. Indeed, I recognize the fact that I'm a sucker for this type of impulse item. As I've mentioned before, I'm a fan of pimpin' packaging. Priced at about fifty cents apiece, how could I resist three pieces of Reber Mozart Kugel. I didn't have a clue as to how it would taste and quite frankly, I only wished to photograph the wrapper and I didn't care if it tasted horrible.

Well, let me tell you this... Biting into Mozart makes my mouth happy and sad all at the same time. Happy because it has the most delightful taste, and sad because it's one less bite-sized morsel to consume. Though I love food, I don't know how to speak of it in those flowery cooking terms, so I will be simple and candid: it was hella good. It was so good that I'm bent on going back for more!

GermanDeli.com has this to say about my new vice:

Imported from Germany! This beautiful gift box includes 3 of the finest Reber-Specialties. The Truffle-Kugel - finest truffle surrounded by marzipan and double dipped in milk chocolate. The genuine Reber Mozart Kugel - exquisitely filled with pistachio-marzipan, made from fresh green pistachios and hazelnut-nougat, double dipped first in milk chocolate and then in dark chocolate.

Here's the official ingredients list:

Ingredients: sugar, almonds, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, milk, hazelnuts, invertase, egg liqueur, alcohol (0.6%), pistachios, soy lecithin, cocoa

There you go. It has truffles. I don't know much about truffles except that they're expensive. I saw Catherine Zeta Jones in No Reservations and there I learned that truffles are worth more than their weight in gold, especially when they're made of chocolate.

They're pretty expensive on Amazon, but if you're crazy, you can get them here: Reber Mozart Kugel Yum Yums.

Amaretti Baratti

Amaretti Baratti

I'm a big sucker for attractive packaging and I admit that my purchase of 6 Amaretti Baratti cookies were based purely on presentation.

Amaretti Baratti

Our visit to A.G. Ferrari Foods at Laurel Village was our first. Though we felt disappointed with our lunch, Doug and I rejoiced in our spontaneity and had fun over our mediocre Tuna Sandwiches and Caesar Salads. Though we went there hoping for great sandwiches, the best part of our visit to A.G. was discovering Amaretti Baratti.

Amaretti Baratti

Apart from the pretty wrapper, the cookies were delectable and yummy! If you love almond flavor, you'll love these soft and moist cookies. Mmmmm... reminiscent of Torani's Orgeat Syrup.

Amaretti Baratti

We devoured the cookies in the span of 2 minutes. Yum.
