Clio Wedge by Asgi Shoes

Bob-ified

About a month ago, I received a couple of pairs of shoes to review for Asgi: the Joy Mary Jane and the Clio Wedge. The Joy Mary Jane was a perfect fit. Though the Clio Wedge in length was spot on, the width wasn't great enough for my 4.5 inch wide pugly feet. So I decided to call on my friend, Brooke of Oh My Seven, to save the day because the shoes would probably fit her. Hoooray! Without further ado, here's the lovely Brooke, and her review of Asgi's Clio Wedge:

When Katrina asked me if I would like to review a pair of shoes for her, I nearly peed my pants. Me, getting to try (and keep!) a pair of really nice shoes, just for writing a review? My inner thought pattern reminded me of that old Smuckers commercial with the guy who says, "A bagel! Just for puttin' on a roof!" So of course I said yes. When the shoes arrived, I found to my delight that Katrina had included a box of miniature fair food that she'd purchased in Japantown... so cute!

Now for the shoes themselves:

My mom was actually going to review them for me, because they were her size (9), but I ended up with them because they were a little too big for her. They have an adjustable buckle, but the smaller size was too small for her foot, while the larger was too big (my sister, who wears a 9 as well, said that she had the same problem, so that might be something to be aware of if you're thinking of purchasing these shoes). My feet just barely fit in them.... I normally wear a size 10, but I've always been able to wear smaller sizes as long as they are a little bit wider. I think my feet are more of a 9 in length, but since my fat feet won't fit all the way to the end, I end up needing a bigger size. So that was a nice surprise to have them fit me. If I were going to purchase this shoe, I probably would get the 10, just because the strap is a tiny bit too small for me. I think it'll stretch out a little bit, though, because they're leather, so I think it'll be fine.

The Clio is actually really comfortable, for being a shoe with a heel-- I was pleasantly surprised at that. As someone who generally wears flipflops and on rare occasions, Converse Chuck Taylors, usually anything with a heel makes me feel like I'm going to trip (given that sometimes I trip on my feet even in flats, this is not an unwarranted fear!), but these were pretty stable. They are comfortable to walk in, though I do have to say that I vacuumed the house in them and I have a new appreciation for June Cleaver and her vacuuming-in-heels abilities (sadly, I wasn't wearing pearls, because I don't own any, but I was wearing a skirt... mostly because I felt funny in sweats and high heels). The only thing that's a little annoying is that they have a tendency to stick to my heels and then make a peeling-a-bandaid noise with each step. Luckily, it isn't TOO loud, so I think it's still wearable.

The Clio looks great with skirts, and pretty cute with jeans, too, which is always a nice parlor trick for a dressy shoe to be able to do. They're more dressy than the shoes I normally wear (flip flops and Chucks, if you remember), but I like that they're not so dressy that they're inaccessible. Does that make sense? What I mean is, if they were too dressy, I'd never wear them, because I would feel like I had to be dressed up with full makeup and my hair in an updo. But I would feel comfortable wearing these with jeans and a nice shirt, which makes them more of an every day shoe. I think the sporty heel contributes to that greatly.

I really like that they have a narrow look, but that they're still spacious... I love shoes with wide toe boxes, but it's nice to have something that is comfortable, but looks sleek for a change. All in all, the Clio is a great shoe-- pretty, sporty, dressy, comfy and wearable.

Thank you all! My feet are not that cute close up, trust me. I'm all hangnails and crusty heels. But thank you. And Michael, yes. You can have something. But not the bagel-in-wax-paper. That's my favorite.

And I didn't realize there was a website for the mini food! It's so cute... I love the fairy tale tea ware.
