The Arcopedico Wolky Affair
What a day. After about an hour photographing Nest on Fillmore (more of this in a
later post), I window-shopped my way back to the car. I came across a comfort
shoe store a block or two from Nest called Cross Walk.
Unlike the *fashionable* shoe stores that dominate The Fillmore, Cross Walk
specializes in shoes that are stylish as well as comfortable -- my
kind of store! They carry two brands which I recognized immediately -- Dansko and
El Naturalista. To my delight, however, they stocked brands I was unfamiliar with.
Two caught my eye:
Nature in Cherry
by Arcopedico, a slip on
ballerina type Mary Jane, pictured above; the
other I saw was called Tulip in Patent Leather Red by Wolky. Yes, that's the darling pair you see below.
It took me a couple of months to save for a pair of Ous by Camper. The mere idea of visiting
Camper's San Francisco store for the first time provided me enough gusto to get though the the
sheer unpleasantness of
programming in OpenGL this semester
(I shiver at the very thought). So as I paraded around Crosswalk in the Arcopedico cherry slip ons,
I had no intention of buying shoes today. After all, I was going to get a pair of Ous in a few
days! At least, this was how I felt until my eyes fell on the red Wolky. I initially tried on a size
39 in black (they were out of red in 39). Since my toes stuck out a bit, Lynn gave me a pair of 40s,
available in RED! So lovely... so comfy... I was hooked. Lock, stock and barrel,
it was mine. It will be a while longer until I see Camper in SF. But, oh how I love my Wolky!
