In Living Color ~ Highland Ridge
We were lucky to find this place. Rentals.com, we thank you from the bottom of our throbbing happy hearts.
The moment our application was approved, not a second was spared! We immediately drafted a laundry list of things to do which primarily involved painting the walls and buying stuff from Ikea.
After signing our lease, we drove home and parked in front of our computers, first visiting Behr.com to coordinate our wall colors. After several hours of mixing and matching (Behr.com is capable of room color previews), we chose the following:
- Living Room ~ Highland Ridge
- Dining Room~ Scotland Isle
- Office ~ Golden Cricket
- Bathroom ~ Firecracker
- Bedroom ~ Lagoon
- Craft room ~ Ikea fabric
Why these colors? Generally, we chose colors that we found to be soul-stirring. We decided to color the living room Highland Ridge, which is a medium shade of brown, because we wanted a somewhat neutral background behind our Monet prints.
After we chose the wall colors, with our room measurements handy, we then veered off to Ikea.com and made a shopping list of some things we needed to make the actual Ikea shopping experience less daunting. You know what that's like.
So, during the month prior to moving in, we worked, we went to school, and we painted those bold hues over the vastness of bland beige. And when we weren't painting, we assembled Ikea furniture. Thank you, Home Depot, for those handy electric drills. After having lived in this bright, happy home for over a month, I can say that each drop of sweat, every hunger pang, and every aching muscle was well worth it.
