Happy Hooker Hopeful
Today was fun. After work, I headed to the gym and squeezed in a satisfying workout. Before heading to class, I made a brief detour to pick up a book I reserved at Borders. Earlier in the day, I decided on something possibly life changing. I decided to take on the crafts by taking up crocheting. Crocheting! It felt great to do something purely motivated by feeling as opposed to reason. I picked up
Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stroller.
Then I sped walked to class. I was speedily walking by Hensill Hall when Serete greeted me with awesome news: class was cancelled. Whoo-hoo! I was absolutely gleeful as I sped walked back to Borders where I parked myself in front of the Arts & Crafts section and perused through all the knitting and crocheting books. At one point, I even had several books on knitting and crocheting and was tempted to get them all. There were a ton of beautiful patterns on how to knit/crochet scarves, ponchos and fingerless gloves. I will learn to knit someday. Anyhow, I bought a second book:
Teach Yourself Visually Crocheting by Kim Werker and Cecily Keim.
I arrived home, met by a block-local blackout. However, that didn't stop me from reading The Happy Hooker -- I read by candlelight for 45 minutes. I look forward to taking my list of supplies to Beverly's tomorrow!
